When does a new haul come out?

Every day at midnight in your local time zone. Everyone in the world gets the same five categories on the same date.

Can I play more than once a day?

The daily haul is once a day, and refreshing brings you back to the next round. With the Hooked Pass you can cast five new random categories as often as you like and replay any past haul in the Archive; those don’t change your daily result or streak.

My answer was right but it didn’t count.

Every category has a long list of accepted answers and spellings, and no list is ever complete. Answers the game doesn’t recognise are logged anonymously and reviewed, and real ones are added. If a typo was close, the game asks “Did you mean…?” instead of counting it.

How is a fish’s weight decided?

By how rare the answer is: Minnow about 1 lb, Trout 2.5, Marlin 5, Anglerfish 7.5 and the Kraken 10, with a little variation. The specialty round in fifth place counts double. There is one Kraken in every category.

Why did a category come back?

Categories return after at least 30 days, and always with a small twist so it isn’t the same game twice: a new Kraken (a different rare answer is the prize) or a 20-second speed round.

Where can I see the answers from past days?

In the answer archive, which lists every accepted answer for every past day, rarest first. “Yesterday’s haul” in the menu shows yesterday’s Krakens.

02Streaks and tackle

How does my streak work?

Finish the daily haul on consecutive days. Every 5 days earns a new rod, up to the Kraken rod at 25 days. Bobbers unlock from single big hauls, from 30 lb up to 250 lb.

I lost my streak when I switched phones.

Without an account, progress lives in your browser. Log in from the Logbook (free, 13 and up) and your hauls, streak and catch log follow you to every device.

03Hooked Pass

What does the Hooked Pass include?

Unlimited casts of five random categories, crews (up to five players), 1v1 duels (your friend plays free), the Archive of every past haul, and no ads. It’s a one-time $5 payment, not a subscription.

How do I get my pass on another device?

Log in with the same account you bought it on, from the Logbook. “Restore a pass” on the pass card takes you there.

Can I get a refund?

All sales are final except where the law requires a refund. If something went wrong with a payment, email us and we’ll sort it out.

04Accounts and privacy

Do I need an account?

No. Anyone can play the daily haul without signing in. Accounts are optional and only needed to sync progress, buy the pass, or join crews and duels.

What do you collect?

As little as we can. The privacy notice lists exactly what the game keeps, who helps run it, how ads work and how to delete your data.
